Clinical Tip: Fear of physicals? Try disco

To calm patients' apprehension and reduce screaming during the physical exam, I have placed disco balls above my examining tables. Most children between 3 and 12 months of age are mesmerized, about half of patients between 12 months and 3 years calm down, and most of those older than 3 years (including the parents) think it's really cool.
