Masters of pediatric dermatology course offered to healthcare providers
The fully online training program, the MOPD Foundations of Pediatric Dermatology Certificate Course, was created by the founders of the Masters of Pediatric Dermatology (MOPD) Symposium and includes lectures, presentations, and downloadable resources for clinicians.

A new program by LiVDerm will enhance clinicians’ knowledge of pediatric dermatology and support better care for young patients.1 The fully online training program, the MOPD Foundations of Pediatric Dermatology Certificate Course, was created by the founders of the Masters of Pediatric Dermatology (MOPD) Symposium and includes lectures, presentations, and downloadable resources for clinicians. The first 3 modules of the course recently went live and can be accessed once a participant has registered. The course covers some of the most common pediatric dermatology conditions including acne, psoriasis, pigmentary issues, atopic dermatitis, hair and scalp conditions, and more.
The MOPD Foundations Course enables pediatricians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, residents, and others in the healthcare field to expand their knowledge of skin care conditions that are common among their pediatric patients. The course fills in gaps in knowledge to help diagnose, treat, and manage common skin conditions to help guide the need for referrals and offer a more comprehensive approach to managing patients’ skin care needs.
Peter Lio, MD, clinical assistant professor of dermatology and pediatrics at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago, Illinois, told Dermatology Times®, "Over the years, I've encountered many skilled clinicians who have reservations about pediatric dermatology and treating children. This course is designed to instill confidence and empower participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in this very special area."
In addition to the 6 topic areas covered by the course, participants also have access to downloadable resources and a “When to Refer Clinician Guide.” Providers can also join the experts behind the course, who include MOPD founding father Lawrence A. Schachner, MD; Elaine C. Siegfried, MD; Brittany G. Craiglow, MD; Bernard A. Cohen, MD; Robert Sidbury, MD, MPH; Peter Lio, MD; Nanette B. Silverberg, MD; Karan Lal, DO, MS; James R. Treat, MD; Lisa Swanson, MD; and Elena Pope, MD, in a 30-minute “Ask the Professor” session where participants can discuss their cases.
The self-paced course allows providers to train around their schedule, and upon completion of the 6 modules, participants can earn up to 6 CME/CE credits and will receive a Certificate of Completion. The final 3 modules will be available in August.
