Opioid epidemic: A timeline

A look at the major discoveries and milestones in the opioid epidemic occurring in the United States.

The opioid epidemic has transformed a group of prescription drugs from effective pain relief to a potential road to addiction and overdose. The September issue of Contemporary Pediatrics examined this growing issue and looked at what events led to this point.
