Blood Cancer United award-winning resources for patients and families

Blood Cancer United offers free resources you can share with patients and families. These creative and engaging programs, publications, and services provide information and support when they need it most.

In 2025, Stars Will Twinkle, The Sun Will Shine (movie version) was awarded a DANDA Gold Award for healthcare media design and aesthetics. This video and book series follows Olivia, who is diagnosed with leukemia, goes to the hospital for treatment, and returns to school.

The three-book series includes Under the Weather, Stars Will Twinkle, and Home Sweet Home, chronicling Olivia’s experience with blood cancer. The audio version of the book series was awarded a Digital Health Silver Award in 2024.

A companion book was released for siblings called Daniel’s Story in 2025. The book follows Daniel, Olivia’s older brother, as the family manages the blood cancer experience.

For adolescents, Blood Cancer United’s A Teen’s Guide to Everything Cancer is a magazine highlighting tips and information about managing healthcare, side effects, physical and mental health, school, nutrition, and survivorship. The magazine was awarded a Digital Health Award in 2023.

Additional free resources include cancer resource navigation with Blood Cancer United Information Specialists, clinical trial navigation with the Clinical Trial Support Center, nutrition consultations with the Nutrition Education Services Center, an online community, booklets and fact sheets, webcasts and videos, a podcast, and more.
