IDWeek 2025 heads to Atlanta October 19–22 with cutting-edge sessions on AMR, AI, vaccines, HIV, pediatrics, and global health challenges.

The infectious diseases community will gather in Atlanta from October 19–22 for IDWeek 2025, a joint meeting of the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA), the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America (SHEA), the HIV Medicine Association (HIVMA), the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society (PIDS), and the Society of Infectious Diseases Pharmacists (SIDP).

Held at the Georgia World Congress Center and streamed virtually, the meeting will bring together thousands of clinicians, researchers, pharmacists, and public health professionals to share knowledge and accelerate progress in patient care and infection prevention.

Learning objectives center on integration and impact

The 2025 program is designed to:

  • Update ID clinicians and investigators with the latest in research and clinical care
  • Bridge gaps across basic science, clinical practice, and implementation research
  • Promote interdisciplinary dialogue among providers, pharmacists, and investigators
  • Support training in advocacy, education, and leadership within the ID specialty

Opening plenary and BugBash to kick off the meeting

The official program begins Sunday, October 19, with an afternoon slate of high-impact sessions, including:

  • Emerging Infectious Diseases You Should Know About
  • Generative AI’s Role in Health Care Epidemiology Surveillance
  • Hot Topics in the Microbiome
  • What’s Hot in ID + HIV

That evening, attendees will gather for the Opening Plenary, followed by BugBash, a signature social event celebrating collaboration across the ID disciplines.

Key themes: AI, equity, AMR, and respiratory threats

Across the four-day agenda, attendees can expect updates on:

  • Artificial intelligence and digital health – Sessions include AI in Clinical Microbiology, AI in ID Education, and Driving Better Decisions: Incentivizing Diagnostic Stewardship
  • Antimicrobial resistance and stewardship – Featured sessions such as Top 10 Papers in AMR, New Antibiotics, Untapped Potential, and Stewardship in Latin America and the Caribbean
  • Vaccine innovation and hesitancy – Including Maternal Immunization, Vaccines on the Horizon, and Vaccine Hesitancy at Home and Abroad
  • Long COVID, hepatitis, HIV care and prevention – With debates, conundrums, and updates across specialties
  • Climate and global health – Including Environmental Upheaval and Infectious Diseases, Decolonizing Global Health, and Global Health at Home

Pediatrics, transplant, and special populations

Multiple symposia and interactive sessions will address infectious diseases in pediatric and immunocompromised populations. Topics include:

  • What’s New with Respiratory Infections in Children?
  • Cavities, Appys and CLABSIs: ID Perspectives From Surgery and Radiology
  • It’s a Small World After All: Pediatric Immunocompromised Hosts
  • Respiratory Viruses in Transplant Recipients
  • Challenging Cases in Pediatric ID

Named lectures and expert panels

The conference will feature high-profile named lectures, including multiple IDSA lectures, the Caroline B. Hall Lecture, the Stanley A. Plotkin Lecture in Vaccinology, and the SHEA Lectureship.

Specialized panels will cover pressing clinical issues such as diagnostic dilemmas, novel antivirals, CMV vaccine development, and metallo-beta-lactamase resistance mechanisms.

Poster sessions, industry events, and networking

Poster sessions and rapid-fire presentations will run daily alongside Learning Lounges, industry symposia, and the ever-popular IDBugBowl to close out the final day.

In-person attendees will have access to all sessions and exhibits, with select content livestreamed and made available on demand via the IDWeek Interactive Program. Virtual attendees can access plenary sessions, symposia, and workshops remotely.
