"These books are tremendous resources for preteens and parents of preteens who are looking for reliable medical information to help their children through puberty," said AMA President J. Edward Hill, M.D. "The information in these books will help preteens during these formative years."

"These books present a wealth of helpful information about the changes that come with puberty," said Amy Middleman, M.D., Medical Editor, AMA Member and adolescent medicine physician at Texas Children's Hospital in Houston. "They give preteens clear answers to questions that can sometimes be difficult or embarrassing to discuss with others: everything from body image and peer pressure to relationships and sex. The books can help give teens knowledge to feel comfortable initiating discussions about these important issues with parents."

The Girl's Guide to Becoming a Teen and the Boy's Guide to Becoming a Teen can be purchased at retail and online bookstores. The books can also be ordered online through AMA Press at www.AMAPress.com or by telephone at (800) 621-8335.
