When discussion diet with families, I recommend that they limit soda pop consumption to one 12-oz. serving per week or less. I then point out that Cola-Cola was originally invented as an after-meal dessert replacement, and initially came in 6-oz. bottles. At that point, I explain the rule at our home that any meal that includes soda pop can not include another dessert. Most of the families like the concept, and report using it.
