The Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) has released the second part of its update to the clinical practice guideline on histoplasmosis in adults, children, and pregnant individuals. The newest addition, posted September 16, 2026, is a consensus statement on the initial antifungal treatment of severe histoplasmosis, covering both severe pulmonary and disseminated disease. It joins 2 recommendations issued in March 2025 that address asymptomatic Histoplasma pulmonary nodules (histoplasmomas) and mild or moderate acute pulmonary histoplasmosis. Together, these sections are the first 2 parts of an update to the 2007 IDSA histoplasmosis guideline.
