Reducing medical errors in the care of children

Recent studies are documenting the special vulnerability of pediatric patients to medical errors and suggesting approaches to reduce the toll:
US Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Tommy Thompson testified before the House Ways and Means Committee last month, promoting an administration plan to establish a national electronic health records (EHR) system within the next 10 years. A fully implemented system would include electronic prescribing.
