Article

The Washington University Medical Center campus in St. Louis will house a new hospital that will be part of the Shriners Hospitals for Children health care system.

The Washington University Medical Center campus in St. Louis will house a new hospital that will be part of the Shriners Hospitals for Children health care system.

The new hospital will replace the current Shriners facility, located elsewhere in St. Louis. Plans for the new 247,000-square foot hospital include 40 inpatient beds, four surgical suites, and 30 clinic examination rooms. One floor of the building will be dedicated to investigating musculoskeletal conditions.

Construction is expected to begin in spring 2009 and end in 2012. The current Shriners Hospital in St. Louis will be sold once construction of the new facility will be completed.
